Donetsk Defense: Situation Report, 03/28/2017

The situation in the Donetsk People's Republic remains tense.

Over the past day, there were registered 68 occasions of ceasefire violations by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In total, 20 Republic’s localities underwent shellings.
The following localities underwent the most intensive enemy shellings with application of weapons prohibited by the Minsk Agreements:

Zaitsevo, Krutaya Balka, Yasinovataya, Yakovlevka, Dokuchayevsk, Yasnoye, Kominternovo, Oktyabr, Leninskoye, Sakhanka, Spartak, the areas of the Airport and the Petrovsky districts of Donetsk.
While shelling, Ukrainian military applied heavy artillery of 152mm and 122mm calibre, tanks, mortars of 120mm and 82mm calibre, as well as IFV and armoured personnel carriers’ arms, antiaircraft guns, grenade launchers, and small arms.

As a result of the AFU fire, nine houses were damaged:

In Yasnoye village – eight houses: on Shchors St., 28, Valov St., 13/2 and 17, Pobeda St., 14, 16, 17, 19, 28;

And one house in the village of Trudovskiye, the Petrovsky district of Donetsk, on Karnavalnaya St., 93.

According to our reconnaissance:

Near Avdeyevka locality (5 km away from the contact line) there was detected up to a company-strong tank unit of the 72nd separate mechanized AFU brigade;

Near Pobeda locality (6,5 km away from the contact line) there was detected a battery of 122mm D-30 howitzers of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade.

According to the available information, because of disastrous shortage of personnel in the AFU, the scheduled rotation of the units deployed in the ‘ATO’ zone has been postponed indefinitely. In this connection, unrests emerged among brigades’ soldiers, waiting for return home as soon as possible, thus escalating into disobedience to commanders’ orders.
One soldier committed a suicide out of desperation in the 1st battalion of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade, in the vicinities of Krasnogorovka locality.

In addition, there are detected massive cases of soldiers’ desertion from units. As a result, the ‘ATO’ command was forced into introducing the curfew hours from 10:00 pm to 5.00 am in the localities of Kramatorsk, Dzerzhinsk, Dimitrov, and Konstantinovka.

Our units continue holding enhanced defense-oriented combat trainings, in the course of which, personnel increase the units’ training and coordination level.
