Press release of Eleonora Forenza, Italian Member of Europarliament in Donbass
EleonoraForenza,it, translated from Italian by Tom Winter
Eleonora Forenza, European Parliament Speaker for The Other Europe Group GUE / NGL, will be the first MEP to visit Donbass, along with the Antifascist Caravan, the project of the band Banda Bassotti, in its third edition from April 30 to May 5.
"Ukraine has unfortunately become a laboratory for neo-fascist organizations, in the heart of Europe, with the complicity of the West" says Eleonora Forenza.
On the one hand, the European institutions continue to support the extreme right-wing government of Kiev, backed by nostalgia for banderism and the collaborators with Nazism; on the other hand, the neo-Nazis paramilitary groups have always been armed by the US and the European Union: all this is functional toward a precise design of NATO to militarize the East more and more.
That is why it is important to bring our solidarity, substantive solidarity, and not leave the Donbass Democrats and Antifascists by themselves, and to re-illumine as much as possible reflections on a conflict that continues to reap victims, and in which the human rights of a people continue to be trampled on."
The caravan, inter alia, will participate in activities in Lugansk and Donetsk, where it will meet exponents of the popular republics, anti-Fascist organizations, and local associated entities.
