Ukraine masses tanks, armoured vehicles in residential area west of Donetsk – Basurin






                
Donetsk, Aug 21 – DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic intelligence spotted Ukrainian tanks and armoured vehicles in a residential area outside Donetsk, deployed in violation of the withdrawal lines, DPR Operations Command deputy commander Eduard Basurin said on Tuesday.


“According to our intelligence data, units of 2nd Mechanised Battalion of 28th Mechanised Brigade with armoured vehicles, including 11 tanks were deployed in yards in Ivan Franko and Lesya Ukrainka Streets  in Krasnogorovka,” Basurin said.


The Krasnogorovka town is located close to the contact line, less than two kilometres west of Donetsk. Ukrainian tanks were deployed along the streets in the eastern part of the town adjacent to the Staromikhailovka neighbourhood which is controlled by DPR forces.


On August 17, Ukrainian forces opened fire at Staromikhailovka when Red Cross personnel was staying there. No casualties were reported. The ICRC staff was successfully evacuated from the settlement. Ten houses and construction materials passed to residents as humanitarian aid were damaged in the shelling.
The DPR Mission to the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination said that Staromikhailovka had been targeted with armoured vehicle guns from the Krasnogorovka axis.*jk
